Millican/Ogden Public Art Project Kick-Off Walk

Posted on

I am excited about this community public art project after the jury selected my Connecting Histories proposal for the public art installed in the Millican/Ogden community. This artwork aims to have a deeper look at the rich history of this community and connect the historical places, public history, private stories to its current residents and the city. We are starting to research these topics with the first community walks in September.

About the Project

This public artwork will take the initiative to map places of historic and personal importance in the Augmented Reality format. This artwork will combine small sculptural landmarks located in park areas and location-specific virtual artwork inspired and contributed by Millican Ogden residents and their histories in the community.

Meeting point for both walks

I would like to invite you to join me to the first community events, where we will walk or drive to visit potential sites and pick the locations of these artworks on September 15 and 18. Please help to spread the word about these 2 dates.

So come to walk with me on:

September 15, 10:00 AM-12:30 PM
September 18, 6:00 PM-8:30 PM
Meet at 66 Ave SE bike path

I will talk in more detail about the project, we will visit the sites across the community and send our kids on a quest for history. If the weather gets cold — bring your own hot beverage and I will provide some snacks.

Please feel free to download and share this flyer
