Anthology of Decentralized Bodies

The cybernetic space is a place for meditation and reflection on the unknown from a perspective of a fleeting feeling of being human. This body of work contemplates the forms of existence in the metaverse worlds, examining the potential for
virtual sensorium to heliograph human experiences for different dimensions.
From this point of view, the cybernetic space becomes a realm where human beings practice an elusive and intimate communion. If the virtual can be described as an “emotional space”, what happens to a virtual heart when the simulation no longer
reproduces its naturally acquired contents? How does the social body come into being in a virtual realm? If gender is rendered absent from digital spaces, does it simply recede into the digital horizon? Where is this place if we cannot prove
that we are here?
GAN Body, 2022, interactive sculpture, animated glb model.
Textured with GAN-generated images of human flesh manually sculpted and animated form.
The bodies of generated and imaginary entities emerge in various intervals of time and space, where the multiverse order is projected onto virtual modes of being and becoming from an evolutionary perspective. In this context, the evolution of
spatial boundaries between separate and increasingly displaced localities across the globe becomes uncontainable, as it fails to guarantee identity in a digital reality. The collaboration of artistic mediums, such as computer graphics,
artificial intelligence, and augmented reality, is an exceptional point of convergence that allows the discovery of new modes of embodiment and cognition. The concepts of the optical neural architecture of knowledge and residue of embodiment in
data form ingest and devour the biological mind’s sensorium.
These projections embody the notion of simulacra as their genesis to reveal the fluid nature of hyper-virtual worlds. These statues and plants display various themes of mutation in our perception of death, nature, morality, spirituality,
poetry, love, the artist’s role, social environment, culture, the female body, the reality of being female, and possible scenarios in the future. In this realm, these entities are self-representing as ghostly forms that externalize the presence
of intimacy for the ones who can never really be fully known by the physical humans.
The Hearing Body, 2022, interactive sculpture, glb model.
The form responds to the questions: How would the virtual bodies evolve to prioritize a single sense of hearing? Would they have desires?
These entities are sustained by virtual senses in their holographic sentience and represent an existential reality in their cybernetic domain. As a point of reference, the artworks seem to resemble certain forms of natural formations that mimic
the cosmic structures of the organic world. These elements suggest a possibility of metaphysical virtuality to manipulate the sensory aspects in the microcosms of individual beings. We are here to meditate about the limits of our own sensorium
and remind ourselves that we are not the only ones observing and living in this virtual reality.
