An electronic organism as a soft tactile interface or a touch organ spreads its sonic aura from inlaid speakers in response to human touch. Triggered by cutaneous contact on the sculptural surface, sound emanates from within the sculpture and then is transformed and transferred into the surrounding generated soundscapes.
By augmenting tactile response with sonic textures, Disturbed System aims to take the visitor’s experience with the work into an unfamiliar sensory territory. This audible vibrational electronic feedback evokes the sensation of first being outside of the sculpture and then being immersed in rich sonic textures as if transported inside the organ-object.
