Under The Skin

Under The Skin @ Herringer Kiss Gallery

The piece speaks about the augmentative nature of our senses with technology. The relief of a digitally modeled breast contains a video camera that tracks human motion. This motion reveals an internal animated gland of the breast, lifting its skin. When visitors stand still or leave the space, the semi-transparent skin returns, covering the breast. It flickers with the breast’s swarming virtual ‘nerve’ structures that exist on its surface as an independent generative system.
